I got an email from my adoption agency. V called to tell me that the Ethiopian courts had decided in favour of our adoption and that Gabriella was legally our baby!!!! V and I cried on the phone. I felt such a rush of emotion. Happiness, relief, but then a little later, sadness. Gabriella's Enat (birth mom) had come to court and given up her parental rights to this beautiful baby! What a selfless thing to do. What a sacrifice she made so that her daughter could have a better life. I will always be grateful! 
Later that day I was sent this picture of Gabbi! She was so tiny and sweet. I started making my plans to travel to Ethiopia with my mom to get get her!
And here is my little princess today!

She is beautiful! why do you think it is that when we have our children time flys by...weeks turn into minute, years into weeks? And yet, when we are waiting...waiting to travel, waiting for our childs birth, time crawls by as though it were attached to the back of a snail??

She is extremely pretty. Maybe one day when Gabbi is older you could find her mom to show her what a difference her decision to give Gabbi up has made to her life.
The world can be a sad place to realize poverty and turmoil exists to the point where a mother has to give up her child and on the other hand the world is so beautiful due to people like you wanting to help and make a difference to another human life.
